Meet the members of the National Ataxia Foundation, Northeast Ohio area support group and the organizers of the 2017 Northeast Ohio Walk n’ Roll to Cure Ataxia. Below is a bio of the founder of the National Ataxia Foundation Northeast Ohio area support group and the man who started the Northeast Ohio Walk n' Roll to Cure Ataxia, Carmen Pieragastini.

Carmen has more than 45 years of business experience, mostly in various management capacities. He is married for 35 years to his wife, Virginia, and has 2 grown sons. He was diagnosed with Ataxia 15 years ago. His mother had it and died when she was 83 (cause unknown). His type of Ataxia is not specified (there has been gene testing). He founded the NAF Northeastern Ohio chapter in 2014, mainly to provide a vehicle for the afflicted, care-givers and family with a place to go to receive information, and support, etc. So little is known about Ataxia and there are multiple types. Research is making great strides in finding treatment and even a cure. Awareness and research dollars are the most vital needs at present.
