The National Ataxia Foundation (NAF) represents the estimated 150,000 individuals, of all ages, in the United States that have Ataxia, a debilitating condition that is a rare and often fatal neurodegenerative disorder. The word “ataxia” comes from the Greek word “a taxis” meaning “without order or incoordination.” Ataxia gets progressively worse and affects a person’s ability to walk, talk and use fine motor skills. There is no cure for Ataxia.
The National Ataxia Foundation Northeast Ohio (NEO) area support group - http://ataxiafoundationcleveland.blogspot.com - is organizing the 2019 Northeast Ohio Walk n’ Roll to Cure Ataxia on Sep. 22, 2019 at Lakewood Park. The support group goal is to raise Ataxia awareness and money for the National Ataxia Foundation – www.ataxia.org. NAF Walk n’ Roll to Cure Ataxia events have grown nation-wide informing tens of thousands about ataxia and raising more than $300,000 annually for research and important programs and services.
